Rites Set for Axel Larson Gilbert (Michigan) - Funeral services will be held for Axel W. Larson, Monday at 2 p.m. at the Gilbert Lutheran Church with Rev. Fritz Soderberg officiating. Burial will be in the Gilbert cemetery. Larson, 81, a native of Sweden, died Thursday (5 JAN 1961) at Munson Hospital in Traverse City where he had entered three weeks ago. He had been ill for the past five years. He was born July 27, 1879 in Kesa, Sweden. He came to Haring township in 1882 with his parents when they came to the U.S. He had lived in the Gilbert area for the past 78 years. Besides farming he had served as treasurer on the school board of district four for 10 years. He was also a craft wood cutter and at one time taught the children in the Gilbert school to do wood craft. He attended the Gilbert Lutheran Church. Surviving with his two brothers, Andrew, of Gilbert and Emil, of Manton, are three sisters, Mrs. Hilda Wyant, and Miss Sophie Larson, both of East Gary, Ind., and Mrs. Ida Anderson, of St. Charles, Ill.
