I did a bit of research on this family and found that your Katherine Larsh was German. In the 1900 Michigan Census for Shiawassee County she is listed with her family as follows:

O'Brien, John, b. Oct. 1859, m. 16 yrs., b. Mich, father b. Ireland, mother b. Ireland
Kate, b. Sept. 1858, m. 16 yrs. 5 children born, 5 children living, b. Canada, father b. Germany, mother b.Germany, imm. 1862
Ella Mary, b. Aug. 1885, b. Michigan
Clara Bell, b. Apr. 1890, b. Michigan
Vinnie M., b. Mar. 1892, b. Michigan
Edwin D., b. Apr 1894, b. Michigan
Harry J., Nov. 1896, Michigan

My Larsh family came from Quebec and were French.
