Armando Larragoite obituary

Armando Larragoite Jr. died December 23, 2004. He was 83 years old. He was born in Santa and was a graduate of Santa Fe High School. He married Marie Alarid in Santa Fe in 1948.
He attended George Washington University, majoring in foreign service. After completing his university studies, he joined the U.S. Foreign Service and was appointed U.S. vice counsel in charge of eastern Venezuela for three years. He then transferred to the U.S. Embassy in Madrid, Spain, where also was a vice counsel. He later worked for the U.S. Department of Labor as an assistant manager of the agency's Farm Placement Bureau, stationed in Guadalajara, Mexico.
He was a member of the New Mexico House of Representatives from 1957 through 1960, a member of the Labor Committee in 1957 and 1958, Public Affairs and Military Affairs Committee from 1957 through 1960, the Natural Resources Committee in 1957 and 1958 and was the committee's vice chairman in 1959 and 1960. He was a member of the Santa Fe County Commission from 1963 through 1966, director of the Santa Fe County Housing Authority and a private business owner. He was a member of La Union Protectiva. He ran for state land commissioner in 1960, but lost to Democrat Johnny Walker. In 1967, he was hired to supervise the night janitorial staff at the state Capitol.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Armando Larragoite, Sr. and Paula Larragoite; and brother, Mariano Larragoite. He is survived by his wife, Marie; daughter, Pauline Brown and husband Don of Park City, Utah; son, Mark and wife Donna of Albuquerque; four grandchildren; sisters, Dolores Bussell of Alameda, Calif., Amelia Brown of Portland, Ore., and Fannie Romero; brothers, Alfonso and wife Eva, Phillip and wife Margaret and Benny, all of Santa Fe, Claudio and wife Valentine of Oklahoma City, Gilbert and wife Marge of Albuquerque; and many other relatives. Mass for Larragoite was said at 11 a.m. December 29, 2004 at St. Francis Cathedral in Santa Fe.

Fannie, married Romero and live in Santa Fe.
Benny of Santa Fe
Phillip married Margaret and live in Santa Fe.
Claudio married Valentine of Oklahoma City,
Gilbert married Marge of Albuquerque
Amelia, married Brown and lives in Portland, Ore.,
Dolores married Bussell and lives in Alameda, Calif.,
Armando Jr. married Marie Alarid
