Larocque / Champagne Marriage HELP!
Posted by: Brenda Menard (ID *****8056) Date: February 08, 2003 at 08:39:53

Am searching for any information on Marguerite LAROCQUE who married Emmanuel Beaugrand dit CHAMPAGNE about 1820, St. Boniface, Manitoba. Marguerite LAROCQUE was Metis and is located in Gov. of Cda., files as Metis. I have all lines pertaining to Emmanuel CHAMPAGNE. Marguerite LAROCQUE is a mystery as neither birth nor death records, parentage or any info re: siblings has ever been located. St. Boniface Archives believes all information pertaining to Marguerite was destroyed in a fire there many years ago. Robert Black, Larocque genealogy researcher, also can not locate Marguerite. She was b. about 1805 and died about 1845. I descend from her daughter, Josephte CHAMPAGNE who married Moise Carriere [Metis]. Marguerite's 1st born, Emmanuel Jr.,[b. Abt. 1820] was arrested for his part in the 1885 Metis Resistance and m. Marie Letendre dit Batoche [Metis]. Marguerite and Emmanuel Sr., had eight other children. Any help on Marguerite's family would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You
Brenda Menard
