I too am a direct descendent of Jeremiah Larkins and Sarah Ann Davis. My mother is Hazel Larkins, sister of Shirley Larkins who wrote the Larkins History.According to a letter written
by Aunt Ett listed in that publication,"Have heard my father talk of Aunt Lyde Chenoweth and Uncle Edd and Uncle Billy Chenoweth.Think their father was called Elder Chenoweth. Her mother (of Sarah Ann Davis) married again after her father died.I stayed with Grandfather eight months out of his last year. That was William Larkins who married Margaret Sturm.William was old enough to remember his mother and remembered her death. They told him she died in the same room he was born in.It was in Grandfather Chenoweth's house.Grandfather Chenoweth was a minister."According to the History of Sandy Creek Church of Predestinarian Baptist by Elder Robert L. Web, Elder Chenoweth was a minister.According to Rootsweb, Chenoweth married Elizabeth Davis in Loundon Virginia one year afterhis first wife died in 1829.I have the list of their children, William's half uncles and aunts.I also know thatElizabeth Eaton Davis was part of the Primitive Baptist Church Associationof Pennsylvania in which Rachel Reed and William E. Larkins were a part of.I have the administrative abstract of Dr. Thomas H. Davis in which Eliza gives up her right to be the administrator of the will beacause she and Dr. Thomas H. Davis were in the process of moving perhaps to Loudoun Virginia. Her relatives were well known ministers of the
Primitive Baptist Church and one who was married to a Davis
was in Virginia.Elizabeth had reason to be there. You can go to the Primitive Baptist library website and look up Putnam County Illinois.Look up churches and you will see
the list of members of the church when James Chenoweth was a minister.
