I sent this to my original post by mistake the first time.

John H. Walters and Mary Larkins had three children that I know of: George W. (b. 1853), Samuel A. (b. 1855), and Sarah J. (b. 1859). George W. had at least one, and possibly as many as four, natural children by Amanda Smith (1854-1899). The oldest of these was George (1875-ca. 1960) who died in Portersville, CA. Adolia Josephine (1876-1951) married a Mr. Daly and lived in the Dallas metroplex. William Columbus "Lum" (1878-1960) took his stepfather David Hale Larkin's surname and is buried in Delta Co., TX. His twin brother Charles V. may have eventually taken the surname Lee and lived in Fannin Co., TX.

Lum Larkin was my husband's great grandfather. Amanda Smith and David Larkin took out a marriage license in Hawkins County in 1889, but it was never returned showing a marriage had been performed. They had several children together and moved to Texas in the 1890s. George W. Walters later married Sarah Ann Netherland, and they are buried in the Liberty Hill Cemetery.

David Hale Larkin's parents were Henry Larkins and Mary Polly Wood. Mary Polly was a granddaughter of William Lawson of Scott Co., VA.

Any information you can give me about Mary's and Lydia's parents or the Walters family will be greatly appreciated. There did not seem to be much contact between the Texas branch and those left behind in Tennessee. There is at least one letter from the Portersville George to his sister in Texas that has survived. I am especially curious about whether David Hale Larkin was related to Mary and Lydia.

Somehow I missed the notification that there had been replies to my post. I hope that you hadn't given up on me. Please feel free to E-mail me directly.
