I find the possible connection between the Larkins of early Massachusetts and Virginia very interesting. As it happens, I live in Williamsburg and have been to Bruten Parish church many times, sightseeing. I haven't paid close attention to the graves in the church's old cemetery.
But, complicating this issue further for me and my husband, whose Larkin ancestors may be involved, is the knowledge that there were numerous Larkins in various locations in England in the 16th and 17th centuries, and there were other fairly large Larkin families in the 17th century in New England. One, for instance, hailed from Westerly, Rhode Island, which, according to Elizabeth Larkin's research and book on the history of the Rhode Island Larkins, is unrelated to the Larkins of Charlestown, MA (now a Boston neighborhood). Some of these people were contemporaries with the same names.
If "our" Edward Larkin, born allegedly in England somewhere (we know not where) in 1615 could have come to Virginia first, that would solve our problem of not finding any ship record for his coming to Charlestown/Boston in 1637. If we knew for sure that he came from London, that would narrow our search. Also, I am intrigued about his wife's name, who, you say, was a Wilde and related to the VA Wildes.
I thank you very much for responding and for this good information. The Rockefeller Library here in Williamsburg is a major source of early Virginia records. I will try to trace the Larkins here, if this library has any relevant records. Also, the VA State Library in Richmond, has a lot of records, and we may find something there.
