Edward Larkin, of Charlestown, MA, born in England, 1615

My husband is a descendant of the large Massachusetts family of Larkins that began there with Edward Larkin, who allegedly was born about 1615 in England and immigrated to Charlestown, MA at least by 1637. He was a Puritan and requested membership in the church there in 1637. He married Joanna, and some reports say that her last name was Butler, but I am not sure of that.

I am trying to find information as to where Edward Larkin came from in England. To date, I have not been able to find the name of a ship or the passenger list. All records I have found do not indicate where he and his family lived in England. The folks in various offices in England can be very helpful to us Americans searching for our ancestors, but we really need to know the area in which these forebearers lived. So, I have hit a brick wall and looking for a way around it.

If any of you have suggestions or know about this family, I will really appreciate it.

I do know that there have been other Larkin families in New England that came here very early on, and they are unrelated to "our" Larkins. One lived in Waverly, Rhode Island, and there was as least one other one in MA or Connecticut.
