Nancy,
I don't know of a John Larkin born about 1614 in England. The very large Massachusetts family that my husband descends from began with Edward Larkin, born about 1615 in England. He could be related to the John Larkin you know about.

However, Edward Larkin had a son named John, born in Charlestown, MA in 1639. But he didn't have a daughter named Elizabeth as far as we know, from various public records. (He had several other children.)

Edward Larkin (1st gen. born in 1615 in England) had a daughter Elizabeth, bvorn in 1642 in Charlestown. She married John Newton in 1666 and died in Marlborough, MA in 1719. It seems unlikely that she could be the same person you are seeking.

There are other Elizabeth Larkins, but none as early as you suggest. Another lady was born in 1671, the daughter
of Thomas Larkin, another son of the "original"--first generation--Edward Larkin. But she too married in MA and died there, according to records.

These two Elizabeth Larkins are the only ones who were alive early enough to fit your scenario, and they both presumably married once in MA and died there.

It is very puzzling, and your lady was in Maryland very early. However, Larkin is a fairly common name, and there were other Larkin families in New England early on. One was in Rhode Island, unrelated to the Larkins of MA, and I think there was another early Larkin family in or around the Boston area, where "our" Larkins came in 1637 from England.

I wish I could help you further, but I would encourage you to check out information from the New England Genealogical Society Library in Boston. It is a huge repository of info. on the families of New England. I'm not sure how much of its data is on-line, however. I would like to know how your search goes. Good luck!

Madelyn Larkin
