I am not sure that this John Larkin is related closely to my husband's ancestor, Edward Larkin, born about 1615 somewhere in England. Edward's wife was Joanna, maybe Butler. But I tend not to think that she was from Virginia, given the historic time etc. It's possible, but somewhat unlikely. I thank you for suggesting places to look in England. The libraries in England are willing to be very helpful to Americans searching ancestors, but we really need to know where in England these ancestors lived. Even in the 1600s there were many Larkins in England, as well as in Ireland. So far, I haven't discovered a ship passenger list or any other document that would help to solve this mystery.
