Hi Lark researchers, For those of you who may need to know who "Betsy" Breeding, daughter of Spencer Clinch River Breeding, as mentioned in his 1835 will, I am fairly certain I have solved that this past week.
Betsy was married to a Michael Lark of Maryland, who had moved to Russell County, VA.
Betsy and Michael had among their children a daughter name Mahala who married an Abraham Williams. Mahala Lark and Abraham Williams had a son who they named Elisha Breeding. And his nickname was "Coot."
Spencer Clinch River Breeding had a son named Elisha Breeding with the nickname "Coot" who moved to Kentucky.
Spencer's son Elisha Breeding "Coot" is also mentioned in Spencer's will of 1835 along with Spencer's other children, as well as a Betsy Lark. This will is online for viewing in Russell County, Va. genweb.
It is mentioned in the census that Michael Lark's wife was just plain Elizabeth with no last name but Betsy is short for Elizabeth.
So Mahala Lark, wife of Abraham Williams, was naming a son after one of her uncles! When checking other names in her mother's family and Mahala's family, Mahala named several of her children after her uncles and aunts!
I hope this helps someone who is inquiring on this Betsy, daughter of Spencer Clinch River Breeding and now the known wife of Michael Lark of Russell County, VA.
