I couldn't agree with you more.
In fact I have been working on and off on this England idea for about 2 or 3 years and have created a FamilyTreeMaker database which has so far 709 individuals in it.
Still haven't found the smoking gun proof though.
It's too bad that the English censuses only go back to 1841.
Things would be a whole lot simpler in they went back to 1790 as ours do.
