As far as I can determine, it is probably Thomas Largent of Burke County North Carolina and his wife Susannah. They ended up in Tennessee. Many of this line later migrated on to Crawford County Missouri where Lucinda and her husband and children lived for several years before moving on to Laclede County Missouri sometime before 1870. That's where Nettie Dugger marrie Jackson Dyer. Lucinda's husband, James Dugger, died before 1880. It was shortly after the 1880 census that she and her family, along with the Dyer family, migrated to Texas. Lucinda Largent Dugger and her brother, McCamey Largent, along with their large family's, were in Wise County Texas by 1881. McCamey was obviously in another Texas county first, but it's not known why the Dugger's and Dyer's went to Texas unless he encouraged them to do so. Lucinda's son Thomas had gone there at least three years earlier than the rest of the family (1877), probably to find land. The family lived in Wise County for about eight years, then Lucinda headed to Cleveland County Oklahoma with her children during the 1889 land rush. That's where she died in 1902.

There seems to be much more known about Lucinda's siblings, but it doesn't look like too many people have tried to connect her to a specific family. I've been able to trace her movements from Tennessee to Oklahoma, and her children have been well-documented except for two. My goal is to determine if Lucinda is the mother of Nettie Dugger, who may have been shown as Brimley/Brumby on the census records with James and Lucinda in 1850 and 1860, and if she is their daughter, I want to trace her family back from Tennessee to North Carolina and beyond if possible.

I already have two other connections to the Dugger family, and know that Nettie and her Dyer husband were distant cousins to each other. Lucinda and James Dugger's family was also very closely allied to the Dyer family that Nettie married into. It could be that they were close because they were all cousins, but the most likely senario is that they were Nettie's parents. I need to put a name on Nettie's mother in order to trace the maternal line of the family. Lucinda is the most likely candidate. The second choice for her parents would be James' brother Daniel Dugger and his wife Mattie Whaley from McMinn County Tennessee. Any help that I can find will be welcomed.

Pat
