Robert, my records show only that W.P. Laramore's wife was Melvina K. His parents were James Laramore, Sr. and Anna Covin. They were married in the old Abbeville District of South Carolina about 1813 and migrated to Lee County, Georgia with a few of their sons. W.P. Laramore had Six brothers and a sister. They were Alexander, James, Jr., Jane, John Louis, Reuben, George R., and Peter W. (my ancestor). James, Sr. and Anna died in Lee County and were buried on their land there in the old Chokee District, but we have not been able to find their graves - probably un-marked and lost. The 1850 Census also reports that James and Anna could not read or write (check marks in column 12). James and Anna's illiteracy, plus the possibility that Anna may have had a French accent (her father and her mother's family were French Hueguenot immigrants to South Carolina) may explain the garbled spelling (Laraeymba) of what appears to be James Laramore's name in the 1830 Census for the old Abbeyville District in South Carolina. Note that the head of household "Jame Laraeymba" in the 1830 Census had some of the same neighbors (Carr, Calhoun, Gillebeau) as James Laramore had in 1820. "Laraeymba's" residence was also listed next to John P. Covin, brother of James Laramore's wife Anna Covin. John Peter Covin is listed as "Peter" Covin in the 1840 census and is still next door to James and Anna Laramore. "Laraeymba" lived two houses (two lines) away from Sarah Bryan, who was the grandmother of Harriet Bryan, who married James Laramore's son Peter after both families migrated to Lee County, Georgia. There is a James Latimore listed in the 1810 census for Old Abbeville County. James Laramore would have been about 21 at that time
Note that in 1850, when James and Anna Laramore were 61 and 65, respectively, a six year old girl, Mary Philips (sic) and a four year old girl, Mary are listed in James' and Anna's household. Their race is not shown. However, Lucian Phillips, age 25, Black, Laborer, is shown with no wife in the household of James' and Anna's son, James, Jr. Perhaps Mary Phillips was the daughter of Lucian Phillips and had lost her mother.
James Laramore, Sr. married a second time to Mary E. before a new will was written in 1861. No Further information about Mary E. and no record of any Children.
Anna was the daughter of Lazarus Covin and Anne Roquemore. Lazarus was a Revolutionary War Soldier. Anne was the daughter of Pierre Roquemore, one of a band of French Huguenot refugee's who settled the village of Bordeaux in the old Abbeville District of SC in 1764.(Bordeaux is now in McCormick County). Pierre Roquemore's ancestors have been traced to Saint Foy le Grande, Gironde District, of France as far back as about 1670. (They had a son borne in 1693.)
