I don't know if by now you already have this information but here goes: John Lapsley married Mary "Polly" McKee June 22, 1805 in Garrard County, Kentucky. This Lapsley family was previously in Lincoln County, Kentucky and before that in Augusta and Rockbridge Counties Virginia. The county lines in Virginia moved around them more than they moved. Botetourt was also split from Rockbridge County and there may be some Lapsley records there and in Montgomery County which came out of Botetourt and Fincastle which was abolished. Most of the Fincastle County records are no longer even in Virginia, but Madison Wisconsin as part of the Lyman Draper Collection of late colonial and early post-Revolutionary records. Look at the 1850 and 1860 censes for Sarah McKee Lapsley's approximate birth year. Bear in mind, however, that census takers until a woman was widowed often just guessed her age or asked her husband rather than ask her. Husbands were often no better at remembering their wife's age or birth date then as now. It's possible to find four or five birth years for the same woman. Since Sarah's probable parents were married in 1805 and her mother was (since this was post Revolutionary U.S. but early in the 19th century) probably between about 18 and 21 in 1805, she would not have been having children past the age of 45, or about 1830. Sarah McKee Lapsley was probably her mother's last child and probably born in 1830 at the latest, possibly a little earlier. This Lapsley family was also related to a Campbell family that went into Tenneseee from Kentucky, then up into Illinois. Isaac Campbell of this line of Campbells married an aunt of your Mary "Polly" Lapsley. It was one of his sons who ended up in Illinois. I hope this helps some. Cecilia L. Fabos-Becker, San Jose, CA (a Woods-Wallace descendant--the Lapsleys of Kentucky are descended mostly from Joseph Lapsley and Sarah Woods--Sarah was the sister of my Martha Woods who married Peter Wallace, her first cousin, since his mother was Elizabeth Woods sister to Martha's and Sarah's father, Samuel Woods...)
