Hi Mary...this seems quite late but I did not realize my email address was not updated until sorry...

The info I have on the Charles Lapp (Lepp?) name is as follows:

"It has been said that he helped to carry bricks for the chimney built about 1852 at the lumber mill in LeRoy, NY.

Was accompanied to the US by his brother who settled in nearby Eden, NY. It is thought that the brother retained the German spelling of the family name, either Lepp or Leppe. Subsequently, the brother married and had a son, George."
