My father, on his mother's side, was descended from a Laplante family living in Burlington, Vt. In the 1850 census, they are listed as Jane Laplante, 37, and her children, Paul, 16, Joseph, 14, Peter, 10, Jane, 8, Adelina, 6, and Admene,4. Jane and Paul were born in Canada, the rest in Vermont. Jane continues to be found in the 1860, 1870, this time with a possible husband: Patrick, 55, 1880, and lastly living with her daughter Admene, now known as Emma, and her second husband Moses Ross. Emma was my father's grandmother. My father remembers relatives named Laplante still living in Burlington when he was a child. Is it possible anyone has any information about this family and their origin in Canada?
