LITHUANIAN LAPINSKY'S
LAPINSKY has been transliterated from Lithuanian through the generations and the spelling has changed from Lepijanski, to Lepyanksy to Lepyanskij and some of my relatives now go by the surname of Lyon, others are Lopin and still others are Lapin. This is typical to see spelling evolve and become "americanized" after emigration. My Jacob (Khaim Yankel)emigrated to NY in 1893.His father was Abram Leib and I've gone to the Lithuanian archives for my research.I've travelled to Lithuania as well.My Lapinsky's came from Jonava, LT and they were Jewish.
