I recently received the family bible of Richard Lapham and Ruth Aldrich. The person who gave it to me thought Richard was my G-G-G Grandfather. After receiving the bible I realized it was not my ancestor and tried to find this family in Laphams in America but without success. The family names in the bible are common to those in the Laphams in America but I cannot locate this branch. I would like to pass the bible to a true descendant if any are alive. Here are the entries from the bible perhaps someone out there can make the connection. This Richard did not identify his parents but he was a Quaker. The bible was published in 1813.
Herewith are the entries.
Richard Lapham and Ruth Aldrich were married th 27th of 3rd month 1823.
Hiram P. Duofer and Susan M. Lapham was married the 21 of 12th month 1853.
(presumably Susan was Richards and Ruths daughter- see below).
Richard Lapham was born the 18th of second month 1800.
Richard Lapham deceased the 21st of 9th month 1852.
Ruth Lapham was born the 13th of 3rd month 1804 (Ruth Aldrich I presume).
Susannah M Lapham was born the 28th of 3rd month 1832. (presumed daughter of Richard Lapham and Ruth Aldrich )
Asa Potter was born the first day of seventh mo. 1755
Asa Potter deceased the 25th of ?9th? mo. 1820.
Ruth Potter was born the first day of fifth mo. 1771. ( I wonder if the year is in error and should have been 1761 because then she could be mother to Deborah)
Ruth Birdsall deceased the 15th of the 11th mo. 183?4? (last digit blurred)(?It this the Maiden or married name of Ruth Potter?)
Jesse Aldrich was born the 23rd of 9th month 1777
Jesse Aldrich deceased the 23rd of 9th month 1865
[Is Jesse Ruths father? The age would be right)
Deborah Aldrich was born the ?16th? of first month 1778 ( I believe she may have been born Potter & is mother to Ruth)
Deborah Aldrich deceased the the ?15th? of 7th month 1812
Abigail Russel deceased the 21st of 3rd month 1850 ( I have no idea who this person is or why she is in bible. Perhaps she was a sister to Ruth Aldrich or Richard Lapham and Russel is her married name) I note that Family #11 Benajamin Lapham (whose mother was Mary Russell) had a daughter Abigail who married Nathan Aldrich but that seems of a different line)
Phebe Lapham deceased the 19th of 8th mo 1852. ( who are her parents? why isn't her birth recorded? (Was she an unmarried sister of Richard?)
There is no death entry for Ruth Aldrich maybe she made the last entries. The handwriting for the Jesse amd Deborah Aldrich deaths and births are the same as are those recording the deaths of Richard Lapham, Abigail Russel and Phebe Lapham.
Anybody with any information please respond to this post
