Glenna, I believe that my gggg-grandfather was Alexander Hamilton Lapham. However, he was born about 1789, so obviously not the Alexander Hamilton you are seeking. Do you know any more about this person? Location? Collateral lines?

My ggg-grandfather was Simon S Lapham, who lived in Washington Co, OH (Marietta) for most of his life. He did live in Cleveland for a number of years later in his adulthood, but returned to Marietta. His oldest son was my gg-grandfather, Joseph Hamilton Lapham.

I believe that the 'original' Alexander Hamilton was married twice ... once to Mary Sweet, and second to another Mary ... but I don't know her last name. I have some contacts with descendents of Ira Lapham, son of Alexander Hamilton Lapham, who lived in KY, OH, and IN. But I believe Ira is a son from the second marriage. Still working on this!!

It would seem that there is a connection here ... just not sure where. But how common is "Alexander Hamilton Lapham"?

Hoping to hear from you!
Barbara Yurkshat
