I am a Lanyon descendant and am in possession of a Lanyon Family history courtesy of David Lanyon of Cornwall. We have at least 2 common ancestors. My gg father was John Lanyon of Henver, St. Allen Parish, Cornwall (ca. 1782- 2/10/1859). His wife was Margaret (Peggy) Vincent. They were married in 1834 and had 13 children .The family history lists an Elizabeth Lanyon ( 1856- ??)as the daughter of Richard and Catherine Lanyon. Richard was born 1809 and died 1878. Richard was the son of another Richard Lanyon, (1783- 1860). Richard's mother was Elizabeth Vincent. They were also of St. Allen Parish. We are both the descendants of John Lanyon and Sarah Straight. John was born 1711, died 1767. He and Sarah married in 1735 in St. Erme.
Going the other direction, my ggrandfather Samuel Lanyon was married in Cambourne in 1860. His son was Samuel Herbert Lanyon (1879- 1960) who emigrated with the family to the US in 1892. They settled initally in Waukegan, IL, lived with Frederick Vincent Lanyon, and subsequently moved to Oakland, CA by way of Seattle and Portland. I believe that I am the only living remnant of this branch of the Lanyons.
