Help!! Lanter Family
Posted by: Marion Chism Date: October 23, 2000 at 20:08:56

Help! Need any Lanter family info. On my Father's side, I am descended from Millie Ann Lanter (g-g-grandmother), married Thomas Jordan Oct. 18, 1842, Madison County, Ky. According to a cousin, Thomas married one Lanter girl and after she died, he married her sister. Thomas Jordan married Sarah "Sallie" Lanter on Oct. 16, 1850. These are both recorded in the Madison County, Ky. Marriage Bonds by two different preachers, eight years apart. The sisters are believed to be the daughters of Alexander Lanter. Need any help proving/disproving this.
On my Mother's side, my g-grandmother was Amanda Lanter (born Dec.19,1851 Wythe County, Virginia), daughter of Jacob and Sarah Elizabeth Moore Lanter. According to family lore, Jacob was burned out during the Civil War and migrated to Ky, shortly after the war. Amanda married William Franklin Chester on Feb. 13, 1870 in Magoffin County, Ky.
So you can see, I have a big dose of Lanter on both sides of my family. If all these Lanters are related, I may be my own grandpaw. Ha! Would appreciate any help from anyone.
Thanks,
Marion Chism
