Katherine B. Lanning (Age 86) of Herndon, VA, died on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 at her daughter's home. She was born on August 24, 1918 in Morehead City, NC to the late Cornelius and Olive Shaw Bates. Katherine had a compassionate heart for all in need and was a member of Oakton Baptist Church, Chantilly, VA. Katherine was the beloved wife of the late Thomas C. Lanning; loving and devoted mother of Robert D. Lanning of Marion, MT, Danny L. Lanning of Augusta, WV, Diana B. Hall of Sterling, VA and Robert A. Bell of Herndon, VA. Also survived by six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Adams-Green Funeral Home, 721 Elden St., Herndon, VA, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4. Interment will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery, Herndon, VA. The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 1211 Connecticut Ave., NW, #501, Washington, DC 20036.
