Cathy, the Robert Lanning of Blackford County you speak of was born in Guernsey County, Ohio and was the son of Isaac M. Lanning and Lydia Fuller Lanning. This particular Robert was married to Margaret Kennedy of Guernsey County prior to their settling in Blackford. There is also an earlier Robert Lanning in Blackford County who is related to the younger. I have not worked on the Lanning family recently so would have to review the relationship in my notes.
