Hi Judy, It must be fate: ) I just started researching your Isaac A. Lanning yesterday! I have a land record for John Ham and your Isaac Lanning bought land from him in 1865. (Land record-Nodaway County Book 13 - Page 222) Then I found something in the "ABSTRACTED NEWSPAPER INDEX OF NODAWAY COUNTY MISSOURI 1869-1900" by Pat Odell and Vickey Baumli: Page 226 - "Lanning, Isaac, determined of unsound mind by courts, John Ham named guardian. Nodaway Democrat. 30 September 1886. I need to know more about your Isaac Lanning. I have a little more info I will be glad to share as well. I'm not a decendent, I'm researching John Ham and his father-in-law Horatio Pool. My gg-grandmother was an orphan living with Horatio Pool and I'm trying to figure out who found her a home with the Pool's. John Ham became sheriff of Nodaway County and since the Pool's were in their late 60's when my orphan shows up on the census, I suspect John Ham may have had something to do with it. I've also found some possible connections to a couple of families in neighboring Andrew County regarding my orphan and would like to find out if your Isaac Lanning had any connection to those people. You can e-mail me at: skyghost@kc.rr.com or post on genforum Thanks a bunch! Karren A. Notify Administrator about this message?
