Hi Scott, Grand Slam! You have really done your homework I have been using Lewis Cook's info. as a base and then connecting them to other info. from many sources to create the lineages of many Laning/Lanning families. So far I have been moderately successful. I have my own family, Spencer, and have my paternal grandmothers line, Morton and associated families that are connected in to them. Doing these genealogies has connected me to several second cousins who were doing their families and they have shared with me. I am closing in on 6000 persons in my way too big tree. My Laning/Lannings came from N.J. to Pa. and on to Starkey / Dundee area of Yates County N.Y.(actually not that far from Enfield). From there James B. Lanning (4 July 1792 N.J.) went to Belvidere,Boone,Illinois. The next three generations moved around Illinois, then to Neb.,Wyo.,Mo.,and finally Kansas. My mother was a Lanning. Two questions, May I add the info. you have sent me into my Lanning tree? and, What do you know of Benjamin Laning/Lanning of Ulysses in Tompkins county? They are buried in the Grove cemetery. I have an idea who Benjamins' parents were, but, no solid info.. Thank You for the the Applegate/Appleton and Lois/Jerusha corrections. Thank You for your response. Good Hunting Jay S.
