Matthew Lanier b. 1887 in NC

I'm looking for information about my great grandfather, Matthew Lanier. He was born in NC in 1887. I'm not sure who his parents are; I have him on the 1900 census as living with his grandparents, Ira and Clarissa. I've not been able to find a census with Ira and Clarissa in which they had children still living with them.

Matthew married Kitty Appie Thompson in NC, but I'm unsure of the year. They had my grandmother, Dorothy, in 1933. I show Matthew as dying in 1954.

Any information would be greatly appreciated!
