Hello, readers, I want to let all of you know we now have yDNA results in the project for a man who descends from Sampson Lanier. His haplogroup is E3b1, which is a Mediterranean haplogroup. This is very consistent with an origin in southern France or Italy. A second male Lanier descendant of Sampson Lanier has joined the project and his yDNA is currently being processed. It will be interesting to see if his yDNA matches the yDNA of the other descendant of Sampson Lanier. If it does, it will establish the yDNA profile for this branch of Laniers. We also have two websites now up and running. Here are links to both of them in case you want to look at the yDNA results or the Lanier pedigree of the participant who descends from Sampson Lanier: https://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/l/lanier/index.html http://www.familytreedna.com/public/lanier/ I hope more male Laniers will join the project and get tested. The test is painless except for the cost. It will be intriguing to discover if all Laniers in America descend from the same Lanier family, or if there were other unrelated Lanier progenitors. Sincerely, Nancy Kiser Administrator of the Lanier DNA Project Notify Administrator about this message?
