I have found an online Photo of Capt. John Summerfield Lanier (1839-1900)Confederate Louisiana that served on the staffs of generals Leonidas Polk and Frank Gardner. He was forced to surrender at Port Hudson in 1863. After the war, he was a planter in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana, and was active in politics as a Democrat. Father may be : James Augustus Lanier b. 27 Oct 1812 in Morgan County Alabama
Mother may be: Mary Ann Rebecca Sykes b. 1 Jan 1819. Don't know John S. Lanier's wife's name or children if any.
