Sandra, I think the first deed filed in Henrico Co. would be John Lenoir. Manakin Settlement was just NW of present Richmond, Va. in Henrico County, a settlement for the French Hugonauts.
The second deed is surely that of John Lanier. Waynoak Parish was on the NS of the James River in Charles Citty Co., Va. Bristol Parish was formed into Prince George County in 1712, formed out of Charles Citty County's land on the Southside of the James River. John Lanier died in 1717 and left his Will in Charles Citty County. The Lanier Family left France for England during the reign of K. Henry VIII and were court musicians taken to England by the Earl of Hertford. Oliver Cromwell put them out of business, no music and dancing during his Puritan Reign. Nathaniel Bacon Sr. sponsored John Lanier Sr. to come to Virginia in 1756.
It is difficult, sometimes, to separate these two families in Brunswick Co., Va. since both families lived there.
Best Wishes,
Evelyn Rowland
