For all us Lanier descendants, there is a picture of John Lanier, musician to Queen Elizabeth, in a book titled, The Story of Greenwich, by Clive Aslet, published by Harvard Univ. Press, 1999. The picture is on p.68. It is titled Queen Elizabeth Dancing with Robert Dudley, Earl of Leicester. John is one of three musicians, Alfonso Ferrabosco, Ceasar Galliardello, Richard Farrant, and John Lanier, playing the Sabeca. The painting is dark enough to give problems reproducing thus the description. The picture is undated. Dr. Wicker
