I am seeking descendants of friends and family of Hugh Hornby Langton. Born 1862 in Quebec, the son of Lydia and John Langton, one time Canadian Auditor-General,Hugh was a prolific author with an interest in Canadian History. In 1887 he was appointed Registrar for the University of Toronto and from 1892 until his retirement in 1923 served as Librarian. He married Ethel Beatrice Street, daughter of Eleanor and William Purvis Rochfort Street of London, Ontario. Ethel died in 1946.
In All Hallows Church, London, England is a memorial window - the inscription is as follows:-
Doctor Hugh Langton of Toronto University died 1953 a benefactor of Toc H 11 Toronto. His brother-in-law Major Edmund Street, D.S.0. was the first officer to enter Talbot House, Poperinghe, on 14th.
