I am helping a cousin search for information on her great grandmother, Sarah Jane Langton. She has the following data, but the trail seems to have gone cold.
My g.grandmothers details so far :-
(1861 Census)Sarah Jane Langton b. Kirk Sandall, Yorkshire 1857 Parents - Robert Langton and Elizabeth nee Hartley.
(1881 Census) She had a son Ernest b. Kirk Sandall 1879 It would appear that she had left her parents home then and the little boy was brought up by his grandparents.
She appears in Dewsbury as a domestic servant for Edward Golden and his family.
Unable to find any trace of her after that. I did find three possibilities of marriage in BMD between the years 1881- 1891
a. Sarah Jane.....Chelsea 1a 509
b. Sarah Jane.....Caistor 7a 1030
c. " " Bolton 8c 408 X
I did send for a copy of the Bolton one, and only proved it not relevant.
Her son Ernest went on to marry my grandmother Hannah Rimmer and I found them both with their three children and Hannah's parents living in Coventry at 53 New St.That was on a 1911 Census Household transcript. Shortly afterwards I knew from me grandmother that he had left her and the children, and was called up into the Army soon after the war started, She knew he had deserted because the Army Police came to her for information when they were looking for him.
Any help would be appreciated
