Mary Ann,
I just read your post regarding Wright Melton Langston. I am descendant of his son, Samuel Judson Langston. I have done extensive research attempting to find the parents of Wright. I've seen a number of references to this Wright and the Wright Langston in North Carolina and believe they have been combined in a lot of cases. I don't believe that Wright Melton is a son of Uriah Langston of Wayne county, North Carolina. According to the 1850 Census, Wright Langston, married to Margaret, was 52 years old, b. South Carolina. That would have made his birth year approximately 1798. The Wright Langston in Wayne county, North Carolina was younger, b. ca 1808. There is a will for Uriah Langston in Wayne county that mentions son Wright some of his lands in North Carolina. Uriah also mentions grandchildren William, Elisha, Elinor, Elizabeth and George. These are not in the family of Wright Langston in South Carolina.
There is also a petition filed in Wayne county, North Carolina on behalf of heirs of Wright Langston (Clarissa, Alpha Ann, John and Francis Langston) in Equity Spring 1850. Wright Langston in Williamsburg, South Carolina died in 1859.
I would love to compare notes with you on this branch of the Langston family.
