Lewis Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Langley - NC/AL/LA
Posted by: Michael Langley (ID *****7229) Date: July 10, 2011 at 19:19:33

I'm hoping someone will be able to help me find the parents of Lewis Benjamin Franklin "Frank" Langley b. 1882-1887 in Louisiana.

His father's birth place was listed in 1910 as Louisiana, in 1920 it was USA, in 1930 it was in North Carolina. I'm absolutely positive that it was North Carolina because both my father and his cousin, who haven't seen each other in 60 yrs tell the same story of my father and grandfather Willis taking a trip to South Carolina to pick up his brother Luke B. and two daughters and a son to make a trip to North Carolina to visit relatives.

His mother is consistantly said to have been born in Alabama although with no census prior to his showing up in Arkansas as a young adult its impossible to tell who his mother is.

I'm hoping with these details that someone will be able to MAYBE identify the parents or give some type of clues as to their identity. After reading many blogs and other articles I realize that many people migrated from North Carolina to Alabama and through to MS or Louisiana.

I have verified Lewis Benjamin Franlin Langley's birth name through his 1918 WW I Draft Registration.

In the 1910 Federal Census I find him as Benjamin F. Langley living in Redland, Hempstead, Arkansas as a farm hand.

In 1918 he registers for the draft and is married to a woman named Lula Langley, living in Bienville, Bienville, Louisiana.

In 1920 he is listed as Lewis B. Langley back in Redland, Hempstead, Arkansas with 4 children listed:

Leona Mae
Herbert Harvey (From his death certificate)
Willis J.
Samuel F. (Waiting on the death certificate tommorrow)

In 1927 he is listed on Lula C. Stones death certificate as Frank Langley and 6 children surviving her. The two additions are:

Luke Benjamin Langley (From his living daughter)
Cary Langley

In 1930 Federal Census he is listed as Frank Langley married again to a Sallie. The children additions are:

Rosa Bella Langley
Melvinia Watkins
Cecil Watkins

I have not identified his date or place of death although I think I have strong clues to indicate where and Luke B. telling his living daughter that he died when he (Luke) was young. He isn't listed in the WWII Draft Registration although he may have been too old for the draft.
