I am a direct Langley descendant. My gggrandfather was Joseph Butler Langley. I dont recall an Americus Langley but I could do some checking. Joseph was a son of Miles Langley. He is a brother to Miles, Samuel, and William, etc. Joseph, who is more commonly known by his initials J.B, was married 3 times that Im aware of, to a Mary Ann Evans, Martha Rowe, and Frances (Fannie) Wetzel Smedley. Im descended thru JB and his wife Fannie by their daughter Mary Eliza. JB had a son named Miles Lawrence, which is also confusing. The name Miles Ledbetter is to my knowledge actually Miles Ledford, at least that is what I have been able to find in my research. I am a resident of Clark Co. Arkansas and Ive not been able to find where my JB is buried. I have found the graves of many of his relatives, but not his.
The first Miles is a son of Isham (also spelled Isom)Langley. There is also an Isom Paul Langley, but at the moment I cant recall if he is another brother of Joseph, Miles, etc., or just where he fits in. All of these folks lived here in Clark Co. My Joseph had a total of around 15 children with his three wives and their decendants are literally all over the place around this area. JB.'s children with Fannie were Mary Eliza, another daughter also named Fannie, and Augustus (Gus) Langley. Mary Eliza married my ggrandfather Robert Wesley Burrow, Fannie married George Deaton, and Gus moved to Texas, married and raised his family there. I believe that Gus followed his older half brother Willie Smedley to Texas. Willie was Fannie's son by a previous marriage.
Hope this info helps you some. Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
