Hi. I just recently made a nice breakthrough that I hope will connect me with other Langley or related Lines. For many years, my oldest proven ancestor was Allen Langley, born about 1737 - 1745 in Chester County, Pennsylvania or New Castle County, Delaware. His parents are suggested by the following: The book " History and Genealogy of The Harlan Family, Chester County, PA 1687" states that Allen Langley is "most probably the son of Jonathan Langley of Christianna Hundred, New Castle County, Delaware." Many accept that as proof, but I've never been comfortable with only that bit of text. Allen did name a son Jonathan, my line, so all of the pieces are there. I recently hired a genealogist in Delaware to get to the bottom of this. It was well worth the money and I now have proof, probate records, and Allen has verified siblings as well!! Jonathan Langley married Sarah Mendenhall about 1740- 45 in Chester County, PA (date not proven) Children (in order as listed in the probate document) John Langley Allen Langley Thomas Langley Curtis Langley Rebecca Langley Mary Langley I knew about Rebecca, the rest are new. The children would have been born in the late 1740's and the 1750's. The names did carry down into my line. So, does anyone have trees that lead back to Chester County, Pennsylvania and New Castle County, Delaware in the 1700s? Does anyone have a Curtis Langley? Does anyone know anything about who Jonathan's parents may be? If you do, I'd sure love to share notes. I have new cousins to find!! I look forward to hearing from you.
