William Marshall Langille
Posted by: Bob Langill (ID *****4044) Date: October 02, 2008 at 11:12:15

Searching through Don Brown's database, he places William as the son of Ephraim Langille, and grandson of Isaac Langille & Susan (Langille) Langille. I must agrree, as I have always thought William M. was a grandson or son of Isaac & Susan's because of his place in the census. Therefore the following family is his:

1. Ephraim7 Langille (Isaac6, John-George5, David4, Daniel III3, Daniel II2, Daniel I1) was born 1834 in River John, and died in Orcas Island, San Juan Co, Washington, USA. He married Rosa (Langille).

From the book, "Making History: The People Who Shaped the San Juan Islands" "After ownership of the islands was decided, Shotter sold out in 1875 and went to the mainland, eventually to Douglas, Alaska. The purchasers of the lime kiln were Daniel McLachland and Robert Caines of Port Townsend. Ephraim Langell, a Nova Scotia quarryman was induced by Caines to move to Orcas to work at Port Langdon. Like so many of the islanders, Langell had been to the Cariboo. His sons, in time, became the oldest residents of Orcas."....And it goes on with more about the lime kiln on Orcas.
