I am a great grandaughter of Jacob and Isabell's son, Thomas Longill, who left New Bedford on a whaling ship and landed in Hawaii and married a Hawaiian woman. I have in my possession the death certificate of Jacob Longill which states that he died in New Bedford, Massachusetts, on January 14, 1913. He is buried in New Bedford but don't know the location. The certificate states that the cause of his death was arteriosclerosis, he was widowed at the time, his father's name is John Longill of Nova Scotia, his mother's name is Hannah Smebyer also of Nova Scotia. I have been trying to locate these individuals in Nova Scotia census records with no success. I also have a death certificate for Isabell Forbes which states that she died on November 8, 1910 in New Bedford, the cause of her death was pneumonia, she's buried in New Bedford, her father's name is John Forbes of Brooklyn, Nova Scotia and her mother's name is Elizabeth Varner of New Germany, Nova Scotia. According to my records Jacob and Isabell were married in 1854 in New Bedford and I recently located their family on a ship that left Liverpool, Nova Scotia for New Bedford in 1870 and I located the family on the 1880 New Bedford, Massachusetts census. If you find or have any additional information about these individuals I hope you will share it with me. If you would like additional information about Thomas Longill's family just let me know. Hope this information will be of help to you. Sincerly, Maureen Lucardie
