By searching the River John land deeds, I have found information on the identity of some of the early William Langills William Langill, born 1801 is son of George Frederick Langill. These deeds refer to George Frederick’s wife as Nancy, and William is married to Eunice. William died in 1888. William purchased many properties in River John, most being near the Harbour and River. After 1850, William was appointed one of her Majesty’s Justice of the Peace for the County. William C. Langill, farmer, born 1811 is son of Christopher Langill Senior . William C. Langille married Lucy Langill, born 1820. They lived on Mountain Road, but purchased another few properties in Louisville Settlement, River John. In one deed William C Langill is noted as son of C, therefore I assume his proper name is William Chistopher Langill. William C. Langill died approx. 1878, as he sold his property on Tatamagouche Road to his wife Lucy in December 1877, and this property is labeled “widow Langille” in the 1879 map. William Langill, farmer, born 1814 is son of Jean Louis Langille & wife Margaret. William married Lucy McPherson, born 1817. William died in 1852. They lived in Louisville on Tatamagouche Road, and they were forced to sell the farm shortly after William’s death to pay their debts. I have not got enough evidence to prove the family relationship of the next 2 Williams: William Langill IV, born 1826 married Nancy Holmes, born 1826. William IV died 1908, and is buried in the Methodist Cemetery in River John. William Langill, ships carpenter & wife Elizabeth, in deed of Dec 1877, to/from executors of Nelson Langill, deceased. This Nelson may be the father of William, (Nelson died June 1876), then this would be William Ross Langill.
