I double checked to see where the heck my last entry was - gee #198 Computer problems, sorry. Well alot has happened to the help of a gentleman in England. He's passed away since He put his info with mine., matching perfectly. William Langdon (b.@1810 St Teath) married 10 Jul 1830 to Phillipa Kellow (b. @1803 St Teath) Children: Thomas @1831 George @1834 m Fanny Powell James @1840 m Eliza Honey William @1836 m Elizabeth Hoskin John @1843 m Dinah Craddock Robert @1845 Angelina @ 1849 George Langdon & Fanny Powell is my 2grt grandparents. Their children are as follows: John @1852 St Teath William @1856 St Teath m Eliza Raw (my line) James @1858 St Teath Thomas @1860 St Teath Phillipa @1863 St Teath Samuel @1864 St Teath Aaron @1867 St Teath Milford (also found as Milverhand) b 26 May 1869 Easton Yorkshire Mary Jane b 18 May 1872 Brotton York died 8yrs old. He (Don Langdon) sent me the descendency on some of the other children of William & Phillipa and his own personal family. It's not complete. Now this is the information I have on my family: this is my grandfather's family: RICHARD LANGDON b. 29 March 1882 Brotton, Yorkshire, England. Married 6 March 1919 in California to Elizabeth Dewey Chinn Died 15 February 1942 in Jackson, Amador Co., California, buried in the town cemetery father: WILLIAM THOMAS LANGDON SR b. 1856 Pengilly, Cornwall, England. Married Eliza Rowe about 1880 in Pendeen, Cornwall England. Death unknown. All his Children are Peter Jas, Mary L, Richard R., William Thms Jr., Samuel, Alfred and Ethel Annette May Langdon William Thomas Langdon's father: GEORGE LANGDON b.c1834 St Teath/Pengilly Cornwall, England. Married Fanny Powell about 1850. Death unknown. Children: John, William, James, Thomas, Phillippa A, Samuel, Aaron, Milford and MaryJane Langdon - all born at St Teath, Cornwall. George's father: WILLIAM LANGDON b. 1806/bp 1810 StTeath Cornwall, England. Married Phillipa Kellow 10 July 1830. Died 21 April 1869 age 59 (Delabole Quarry) Cornwall, England. Children: Thomas, George, James, William, John, Robert, Angelina - all born at St Teath, Cornwall. Richard Langdon's mother: ELIZA RAW/ROWE b. 24 Aug 1860 St. Just, Cornwall England. Married William Thomas Langdon. Died 9 March 1926 Vallejo, California., buried at the Masonic Lawn Cemetery,Sacramento, California. FATHER: JAMES ROWE b. England (info from Eliza's Death Certificate) MOTHER: RACHEL (last name was unknown but is THOMAS) b. England (info from Eliza's Death Certificate) Rachel later remarried to Richard Goldsworthy in Cornwall. My grandfather Richard R. Langdon birth's certificate verified his parents residence on the 1881 Census of Brotton, Yorkshire, England at 49 Chapel St. His birth certificate showed Eliza Raw could not sign her name and was witnessed by a "X". She listed her husband's name as William Thomas Langdon. At their home address it showed Richard's siblings Peter Jas Langdon (age 6) and a sister Mary L. Langdon (age 2). Next door at 48 Chapel St., her inlaws Mr. George & Fanny Langdon lived with siblings of her husband by the names of Philipa A. Langdon (age 18), Samuel Langdon (age 17), Aaron Langdon (age 14) & Milford Langdon (age 11)., it showed they all were born in Pengilly Cornwall except Milford being born in Eston, Yorkshire Eng. My grandfather Richard immigrated to the states in 1903. I found him listed in the Ellis Island registry. His Port of Departure was Southampton England on April 26 1903 on the SS St.Paul. He left with his brother William. Richard was 21 yrs of age and his brother 19., their occupations were Miners and they were going to Amador County, California to join their half-brother James Rowe. Sometime between 1901 and 1910 Richard brought his mother Eliza and brothers & sister to the states. They may of come directly to Amador Co (Jackson?) California and then relocated to Bisbee, Arizona around 1908. I did find Richard's Mother and Sister listed on the 1910 Census of Bisbee, Cochise Co., Arizona frame 730/752., showing Langdon, Eliza age 49 widowed occ-Cook, born in England (parents born England) and her daughter Ethel age 15 single also born England (parents born England). On the census Eliza Rowe states that they immigrated in 1900, So now I am a bit confused who came here first - possibly Eliza Rowe Langdon came here with her husband William T Langdon first and was widowed between 1900-1910. I also have information that my grandfather was one of twelve hundred miners involved in the I.W.W. (Industrial Workers of the World) Miners Strike of Bisbee in July 13, 1917 and was herded at gunpoint into boxcars and shipped out of state. The family barely found my grandfather alive in the desert and nursed him back to health, and I believe it was after this they moved back to California, As he married my grandmother (Elizabeth Dewey Chinn) on 6 March 1919 in San Francisco California and then moved to Jackson in Amador County. CHILDREN OF WILLIAM THOMAS LANGDON & ELIZA RAW/ROWE 1) Peter James Raw Langdon (born Dec 1875 Liverton, York) 2) Mary Langdon (born June 1879 Pengilly Cornwall) 3) Richard Langdon (born 29 Mar 1882 Brotton York/Grusbrough) Richard and his new wife are found on the 1920 Census of Jackson, CA at frame 34/237/237 Langdon, Richard age 34 and showing that he immigrated in 1901 and was naturalized in 1907. So he must of returned to England and gotten his brother William and went back to California. His wife Elizabeth was age 20 at the time of the census. (Also on the same census page 34/235/235 are listed Elizabeth's stepmother Blanche Chinn - Head-0-0-F-W-49 Wd with Elizabeth's brother Phillip age 29. Then frame 34/236/236 Hill, John (son in law) with wife Alice (dau) age 31 (Elizabeth's sister) Lillie (13) and Jessie (11). Richard Langdon and Elizabeth D Chinn had seven children: Robert Shirley, Jean, Marion, Lorraine, Patsy, Richard. His occupation was a painter & paperhanger. He was a WW1 veteran. He died February 16 1942 at age 59 yrs. He played the mandolyn and loved music which he encouraged his children to enjoy. 4) William Thomas Langdon Jr "Tom" (b. 1884 Ulverston, Lancashire) married a Latina Lady. Died Unknown (might be before 1942 in California) He lived in Sacramento and worked on the Railroad (Southern Pacific) No Children of his own. 5) Samuel Langdon (b. 1886 Barrow in Furness, Cumbria) married Annie L. Correa. Lived in Sacramento CA. Died 16 June 1945 age 58., Services were done by Tehama Lodge No 3 Free and Accepted Masons, he was buried in the Masonic Cemetery. He was employed by the Southern Pacific Co as a Air Brake Mechanic. He lived in Sacramento for 40 years. He had a stepson Charles B Watts/Mott? 6) Alfred "Fred" Archie Langdon (b. 2 Sept 1888 Barrow In Furness, Cumbria England) came to the states at age 13 in 1901. Married to widow Alice S. Peterson. Moved to Seattle in 1910. Died Sept 14 1957 Seattle, WA. children-2 stepchildren. He worked as a Bailiff for the Superior Court for 12 years after his return from the Army in 1945. He and his wife were custodians of the Nile Temple Country Club prior to his becoming a bailiff. He particularly liked the humanitarian aspect of the Shrine Program in building hospitals for crippled children and he devoted considerable time to that. 7) Ethel Annetta May Langdon "Nettie" (b. 30 Aug 1894, Redruth, Cornwall) married 3 times/divorced twice (1) 1926' Tyson, Samuel/Jack - married in Bisbee, Arizona children: Stanley & Ernest Tyson (2) 193?' Jacobs, Frank no children (3) 1941 Parker, Charles no children - lived in Sacramento, California Note# Half-BROTHER James Rowe (b. 1857) James Rowe died in Bisbee, AZ in a Copper Mine in 1906 at the age of 30.
