Charlotte:
If I am correct in my assumption, Tillman Lane was 'probably' born in Pittsylvania Co., VA or in NC, not Barren Co., KY.
He was living in Washington Co., TN in 1797, but had moved to Barren Co., KY by 1799, where he can be found as a member of Rev. Mulkey's Mill Creek Baptist Church, along with other Lane family members and others related by marriage.
As for Madison Lane, he was a son of John and Rebecca [Thompson] Lane, and I show his wife as "Marilda" Farmer. He died in 1908 and she died in 1917.
From what branch do you descend?
My ancestors are:
Tillman Lane = Margaret Lyon
Ezekiel Lane = Talitha Guest/Gist
Sarah Lane = James Monroe Thompson
John Jay Thompson = Ida Louisa McCollum
John Melvin Thompson = Myrtle Belle Sidell
The last couple were my grandparents.
