I need help finding out who this couple is. John R. Landrum who married Miss or Mrs.(?) Falba Elizabeth Strickland is about the right age to be the same John R. Landrum, born in Georgia, age 20, listed as the oldest child of Missouri A. Landrum, head of household, on the 1860 Barbour County, Census. The Post Office was at Mount Andrew. Her real estate is valued at 200.00 and personal estate at 225.00. This census doesn't give relationship but I'm assuming John R. is her son as the other 6 children are listed under him. The next to the youngest is my great grandfather, Benjamin Lawrence Landrum, listed as age 5. I know just a little about Missouri's children from information gathered from relatives: Frank who came to Texas and got sick with TB and went back to 'Alabama' and died there, William Jasper stayed in Texas and married Mollie Hamilton, Mary Pearl who married ? and, I believe, stayed in Alabama, Benjamin Lawrence who stayed in Titus County, Texas and married Anna Alice Smith, and Sarah (Sallie) who also came to Texas and married John Atkinson, but nothing about daughter Nancy J. or John R. or what happened to Missouri A. Landrum, their mother.
If anyone believes that these John R. Landrum's are the same person or has a Landrum/Strickland marriage or have any of Missouri A's other children anywhere in their tree please contact me.
I've looked at a lot of Strickland's as well and don't seem to be able to find a Falba Elizabeth Strickland although there are several Strickland families in Barbour County at that time.
Here are two different sources of this same marriage information. One lists John without a middle initial and the other with and one with Elizabeth's full name. Assuming that this is John's first marriage, he would've been possibly age 21.
Any help appreciated. I'm brick walled on this one.
