Jane,
I don't know if it would help you to know about my ancestors or not, but I will give you the information and you can decide. My brick wall is Henry SHELTON b.1791-1794 NC d.1879 in Lumpkin Co., GA and he m.ca.1835 Matilda (MAIDEN NAME IN DISPUTE either HAGOOD or BRUCE) I have no proof of either maiden name. Matilda was b.ca.1810-1817 GA and she d.30SEP1899 GA. The above couple resided in Lumpkin Co., GA. Their oldest son (my g-grandfather) was James Milton SHELTON b.ca.1837 GA m. to Rachel Elizabeth FORTNER b.02dec1844 GA. It is the son, James Milton SHELTON, who had a son whose name was Wesley Landrum SHELTON. He went by Landrum SHELTON. I have always wondered where that Landrum name came from. It is obvious to me that it comes from a surname.
Thanks for clearing up my confusion.
Dolores Shelton Davis
