Jayne, a few facts first:
1. George Wright married Elizabeth Landrum in Amherst Co., VA, January 19, 1789 with Young Landrum as surety (my source: Robert N. Grant)
2. George Wright was named guardian of Patsy Landrum, orphan of James Landrum, dec'd, August 21, 1797 (source: Amherst Co. Wills, Vol 2, E-O, page: 3 L Wills, from photocopy sent to me by Norma Dempsey)
3. Susannah Dempsey gave her consent to the marriage of William Dempsey and Patsey (spelling used in document) Landrum on August 21, 1799, Test: George Wright and Allen Cameron in Amherst Co., VA (from photocopy of original sent to me by Norma)
4. William Dempsey and Allen Cameron signed (in the presence of S. Garland) the marriage bond dated 21 August 1799 for marriage between Patsey Landrum (spinster) and William Dempsey in Amherst Co., VA (from photocopy of original sent to me by Norma)
5. Duncan Cameron performed and gave consent to the marriage of Allen Cameron and Jane Dempsey 21 December 1795 in Amherst Co., VA. Consent was also given by Spencer Thomas. Witnesses were L. S. Crawford and Samuel Meredith. (from Mary Foster Ludvigsen's email dated June 7, 2000)
Robert Grant has suggested that Elizabeth Landrum's father was Young Landrum since he was surety for the marriage. I tend to believe that James Landrum could possibly have been her father. Elizabeth's husband George Wright was Patsey Landrum's guardian. The information about Allen Cameron may not interest you but I have added it since it is possible that his wife Jane was a sister of William Dempsey who married Patsey Landrum.
I have not looked any further into the Landrum line but have seen on the internet that John Younger "Young" Landrum Sr. had the following siblings: Samuel, James, and Rosey. It is interesting to note that Young had a son named James Wesley (died in 1840 and therefore not James the father of Patsey).
Elizabeth and George named their children: Wesley J., Elizabeth, Matilda, and Wilson. William and Patsey named their children Seaton Y., Wesley G., Eliza, Louisa, and Wilson. as you can see there are several similarities.
One last note: Patsey may have been a nickname as William Dempsey's wife is later referred to as Martha.
Hope I haven't confused you too much and that some of this will help you. Cathy
