Jacob Lance, son of Henry and Elizabeth Lance, was born 11 October 1830 in Barbour County VA, and died 23 December 1862 in Upshur County, WV. On 21 April, 1853, he married Sena Post, daughter of Daniel and Mary (Heavner) Post. According to the Upshur County Register of Deaths, Jacob died on 23 December 1863 and the cause was reported as “shot”. He and Sena had 4 children: William, Josiah, Mary and Sarah. Any information about this family, especially about the circumstances of Jacob’s death would be welcome.
