Herdegen's book The Men Stood Like Iron (about the famed Iron Brigade) mentions that Charles Lampe of Milw. was killed while taking a canteen to a wounded New York soldier.
Just thought someone might like to know. (I couldnt find a forum for the LampE spelling.) See the book for context.
