Interested to hear from other family connections of the following La Gerche (LaGerche) or LaMotte (La Mottée) families :

My great grandfather on my mothers side was John Le Motte La Gerche b.1872 Daylsford, Victoria, Australia. m. Jessie McGlashan b. 1876
[John Le Motte La Gerche b.1872]'s father was John La Gerche b. 1845 St Marys, Jersey, Channel Islands m. Elizabeth Nora Bendixon b.1850 St Helliers, Guernsey, Channel Islands.

[John La Gerche b. 1845 St Marys]'s father was John Le Couteur La Gerche b.1815 m. Marguerite Le Mottée b. 1821 St Mary, Jersey, Channel Islands

[Marguerite Le Mottée b. 1821 St Mary]'s mother was also a Marguerite Le Mottée b.1797 St Mary, Jersey, Channel Islands.

[Marguerite Le Mottée b.1797 St Mary]'s father was Jean Le Le Mottée

Some historical context...
A windmill was built in 1835 in St Peter (Jersey), on the Fief des Vingt Livres - "St Peter's Mill" by a group of "shareholders"

Among those were the following included..
John Le Couteur La Gerche (my great great great grandfather)
Jean Le Couteur son of Edouard
Jean Le Mottée
Philippe Le Feuvre
Jean Le Couteur
Hélier Nicolas Le Mottée
Philippe Le Couteur Ecr
Jean Le Couteur
and others not listed here..

1885, it was sold to Mr John James Hawkins.

at that time there was a dispersion of the asset revenues among the shareholders and Jean Le Mottée
had right by acquisition from Dlle Marguerite Le Mottée wife of John Le Couteur La Gerche Ecr, (and) only
child and sole heir of the said late Jean Le Mottée.

That is the family connection.

John La Gerche b. 1845 had a sister Matilda La Gerche b. c. 1841

In 1845 Jean Le Couteur La Gerche shows up as in the listing of Jersey Island Constables ---- Obscure The origins of this office are drank first surviving historic references are from the fifteenth century. The Constable is the secular head of has parish and in early times it appears He was appointed by recommendation of the Governors and Jurats. Later, He was elected to office by the “elders” - the senior and influential members of the parish. Today, this officer represents the parish by election of all parishioners and currently has, ex officio, has seat in the island' S Legislature. Also At present, the term of Office is for three years and may stand again for re-election. It could Be loosely equated to has Mayor in other places in Europe. For parish policing matters He is assisted by honorary parish Centeniers and Constables Officers.
