It sounds like you are on the right trail. The McCoulskey's and the Lamon's and mmany Scottish families did live close together, and they all went to Brown Marsh Presbyterian Church. It is still standing about two miles from our farm and is listed on the NC Historic Register. The line that I know of is as follows:
Duncan Lamon, from Scotland, married Christian McCoulskey(my great, great, great, great, great, great grandparents)
Their son,Angus Lamon. married Elizabeth McColl(my great, great, great, great, great grandparents)
Their daughter,Kathryn Lamon, married James Campbell(my great, great, great, great grandparents)The land I have inherited came through James and Kathryn. He inherited through his father and she through hers)
Their son,John Campbell, married Katie Dove(my great, great, great grandparents)
Their daughter,Margaret Campbell, married Enos Harrelson(my great, great grandparents)
Their son, Hugh Harrelson, married Rebeccah Rogers(my great grandparents)
Their son,Thomas Harrelson,married Delphia White(my grandparents)
Their daughter,Elma Harrelson, married Daniel Regan, Jr.(my parents)
I, Robert Regan, am the son of Elma Harrelsonand Daniel Regan, Jr.
You say Angus was the only one to stay behind, and that might account for why there were no Lamon's left during this century. I have a copy of Angus' will and one of Alexander's will.Alexander would have been Kathryn Lamon Camopbell's brother, right. The
"Old Man Lamon" that my grandaddy referred tobeing buried in the field next to our farm was probably Angus or maybe Alexander. Some of the family are buried at the Brown Marsh Church.Evidently, a lot of folks were heading to Alabama, Mississippi, Texas, and Loisianna
in the 1830's and 1840's. Several of the Campbell's went that way, and my great, great, great grandfather, John Campbell's brother, James, Jr. led a wagon train to Natchez, MS
Do you know why Duncan's children, except Angus, went to Alabama? Stay in touch. this is all quite fascinating to me.
