Janice, Have not heard of Mordecai but I do know that Levi Lemons/Leming left E. Tenn. in 1830's migrating to Northern Alabama to an area near Morgan county which I believe incluldes Morgan County. I do know that it was near what is today Huntsville, Ala. I know nothing of their being from Scotland, but certainly hope so as I feel a closeness to the Scots and love the bagpipes. I also know that Lamons has been corrupted over the years in the following ways; lemons, Lemon, Lemmon, Lemmons, Leming, Lemming and Leaming. It is such an easy name to change and misspell. I have seen other postings using the Lamons name and also know that Lamon/Lamons was a common name among the Melungeon peoples of E. Tenn. Keep in touch Larry Lemming
